Low Turnout at Presidential Polls?

21 April 2007

I left my home 10 minutes ago to vote and I’m back at home having voted. I was struck at the absence of other voters nor of a queue at both my polling station, and all others I passed on the way. It was nothing like last Saturday’s gubernatorial polls where people spent hours under the sun waiting for their turn. What a pity! It seems that the lack of transparency of last week’s process has made many lose interest in today’s elections. I must admit that after the massive riggings of last Saturday, I was tempted not to vote today, fearing that my participation will not affect the process either way. I changed my mind. Now will my vote count, yes it will … whether the “count” will be used properly is quite another matter!

Hey, I'll like to hear from you - drop a line :)
